Receptionist PositionThe receptionist is primarily responsible for all activities related to meeting and greeting the public, whether patients or visitors, appointment-making and patient scheduling according to established policies and procedures, collecting payments, telephone messages, the appearance of the front office and waiting room, and for providing courteous, customer service in the front office. This person is responsible for running and balancing a day sheet on a daily basis required by management. This person coordinates and expands the center's capability to provide un-insured patients with information pertaining to the medicine assistance program. The receptionist is a member of the Front Office Team and will rotate through evening and other clinics on a regular basis. As a member of the Front Office Team, this person will cross train in the other Front Office positions and achieve full competency in all positions. The receptionist will perform these duties on a rotation basis as well as fill in when absences occur. This position may have remote work requirements. This position is subject to all current CMS vaccine mandates.Essential duties and responsibilities include presenting a warm, friendly, efficient, client-centered attitude to all patients and visitors at Primary Health Care Centers, maintaining a neat, orderly, and clean front office, promptly greeting and acknowledging visitors, patients and telephone callers, routing calls to appropriate person or department, obtaining necessary information, collecting payment from patient at time of service and/or prior balance, conducting interviews with prospective sliding scale patients, running daily report and balance day sheet, preparing daily cash deposits, confirming insurance and demographic information, creating or updating patient computer file, marking patient arrived in EMR when patient has completed check-in procedure, ensuring that patients are called in order, handling patient minor billing questions, advising patients if there will be a delay and wait is unavoidable, scheduling/rescheduling appointments according to established policies and procedures, participating in all required Primary Health Care Centers, OSHA and Emergency Preparedness training, adhering to all HIPAA Rules and Regulations, participating in helping the provider meet all meaningful use criteria, participating and helping maintain a Patient Centered medical Home environment, providing patient with medicine assistance application and assist patient with instructions for completion of form, gathering returned medicine assistance application for the week and then route to provider for signature, opening, gathering, and entering each shipment of medication into the appropriated place of documentation system, gathering medication for patient at time of pick up and asking patient to sign for each medication, scanning pick up medication sheet into patient file, documenting and closing encounter of patient picking up medication(s), and other duties and responsibilities as assigned.Qualifications to perform this job successfully include the ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and experience include a high school diploma required, additional college or business training preferred. Reasoning ability includes the ability to define problems, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Certificates, licenses, registrations include a valid driver's license. Computer skills include the ability to operate a computer, type 40 wpm, understand and utilize various software programs. Physical demands include sitting, using hands to finger, handle, or feel, reaching with hands and arms, talking or hearing, standing, walking, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
