CNC Machinist (Setup / Operator)

Our Client is seeking a skilled CNC Setup / Operator Lathe Machinist who is eager to learn, grow, and contribute to a fast-paced manufacturing environment. In this role, you will work alongside experienced machinists to manufacture precision universal joints and drive shafts while supporting production operations and maintaining quality standards.

This position is responsible for setting up and operating CNC turning centers and contributing to the company's continued growth and operational success.

Shift Availability

• Swing Shift: 9:00 AM - 6:30 PM (45 hours per week)

• First Shift: 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM (40 hours per week)

Key Responsibilities

• Plan machining operations by reviewing work orders, blueprints, specifications, materials, and machining parameters

• Interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T)

• Program multi-spindle CNC lathes using G-Code programming

• Set tool registers, offsets, compensation, and reference points

• Perform setup and operation of CNC turning centers

• Install and adjust various cutting tools and tooling systems

• Load materials and feed mechanisms into machines safely and accurately

• Verify machine settings and inspect first-run parts to ensure quality standards are met

• Perform drilling, grooving, cutting, turning, facing, knurling, and thread chasing operations

• Troubleshoot machining issues and make programming or tooling adjustments as needed

• Replace worn tooling and maintain production efficiency

• Complete production documentation and quality logs

• Follow all safety procedures and preventive maintenance requirements

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience operating and setting up CNC Turning Centers

• Swiss turning experience preferred

• Strong G-Code programming knowledge

• Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T

• Knowledge of tooling, controls, instrumentation, and machining processes

• Strong troubleshooting and process improvement skills

• Good verbal communication and teamwork skills

• Strong technical and functional machining abilities
