Registered Nurse - Operating Room

Job Summary:
Provides comprehensive perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. Ensures patient safety, comfort, and education throughout the surgical process by applying professional nursing standards and clinical expertise. Collaborates with surgical teams to facilitate efficient and effective patient care.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patients’ physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs through observation and interaction.
• Act as a patient advocate, ensuring communication and coordination among healthcare providers.
• Transcribe and implement physicians’ orders accurately and timely, including patient admission and discharge procedures.
• Document patient care activities and clinical information in electronic medical records with precision.
• Monitor and maintain patient airway, vital signs, and pain control in PACU, consulting with surgeons and anesthesiologists as needed.
• Assist in sterile procedures, including nerve blocks and handling anesthesia supplies, and ensure emergency equipment is available.

Qualifications:

• Possess an active and valid nursing license.
• Demonstrate proficiency with diagnostic measures such as labs, radiology, and EKG.
• Have experience with IV therapy and sterile procedures.
• Possess strong assessment skills and the ability to recognize and respond to patient needs.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; appropriate perioperative or surgical nursing experience preferred.
