Senior Accountant IV - Retail Accounting

The Senior Accountant IV - Retail Accounting, supports the financial close process, reporting, and analysis activities for Vistra's Retail Brands, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in accounting operations.

Key Accountabilities

• Executes complex tasks with a strong understanding of relevant policies, procedures, and controls
• Analyzes data, identifies trends, and provides insights to support decision-making and operational efficiency
• Reviews and reconciles information to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with company standards
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams to improve processes and implement best practices
• Assists in preparing and reviewing reports, ensuring clarity, completeness, and adherence to guidelines
• Supports continuous improvement efforts by identifying inefficiencies and recommending solutions
• Provides mentorship and guidance to junior team members, contributing to knowledge sharing and skill development

Role Specific Accountabilities :

• Leverages deep technical expertise of subject matter to support the entire Retail organization in performance of duties.
• Ensures the monthly close process for Vistra's Retail Brands is timely, complete and accurate, in compliance with US GAAP and other reporting requirements.
• Assists in the preparation and analysis of results, including identification of key drivers of variances between actual results and plan, projection, and prior year.
• Prepares and/or reviews reconciliations, financial schedules, and variance analyses for retail revenue, bad debt expense, and related accruals.
• Collaborates across multiple organizations including Planning, Residential and Business Markets, Marketing

Education :

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

Experience :

• 3+ years of experience in Accounting or related field
• Experience preferred in the Energy industry, but not required

Skills :

• Experience with accounting and/or reporting systems
• Strong financial analysis, problem solving & communication skills
• Process improvement oriented
• Fundamental understanding of the accounting close process
