Registered Nurse District

Non-certified employee vacancy for registered nurse district category: at-will position. Location: district. Work year: 180 days follows school calendar. Salary range: $30.00 per hour (minimum, more with experience). Work day: 7 hours per day (includes hour of unpaid lunch).

General qualifications:

• Current Illinois RN license.
• Current CPR/AED certification.
• Current Basic First Aid certification.
• IDPA Vision and Hearing Screening certification.
• General office skills.
• Friendly, cheerful and enthusiastic personality.
• Ability to cooperate and relate well with students, parents and staff.
• Professional attitude about the position.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
• Ability to successfully follow a flexible and varied schedule.
• Medical Review Certification (preferred) or successful completion of the Illinois State Board of Education.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Compile data and provide results to the school certified nurse for annual state reports.
• Maintain health records, including physical, dental, vision and immunization records (calculate BMI, height/weight/BP/HR if absent from physical examination form).
• Conduct vision and hearing screenings.
• Provide first aid assistance.
• Monitor health office traffic flow.
• Assist with administration of EpiPen's and inhalers as per AHA first aid training and IL state law.
• Administer medications (including any necessary assessment pertaining to the medication or medical condition).
• Perform medication administration charting.
• Develop and maintain a Health Concerns List per building.
• Perform reporting and exclusion of communicable disease carriers.
• Provide individual health training (the RN cannot perform classroom teaching).
• Develop and maintain special education health histories (including collection and summarization of information collected as well as reading summarization at staffing).
• Perform outreach time study charting.
• Perform Fee for Medicaid Reimbursement charting (for non-specialist reimbursement).
• Assist nurse with head lice checks and parent notification.
• Answer phone and make calls as requested.
• Additional duties as assigned.
