o Radius rule: Traveler’s permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit
● Department Information:
o Beds: 10
▪ Avg Daily Census – 8 patients
o Minimum Years of Experience required: 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience
o Will you accept a first-time traveler? Not preferred, will consider
● Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
o Chest Pain, Syncope, Angina
● Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance:
o BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (Resource Team requirement)
● Ratios:
o RN: 1:5
● Skills required:
o General Med/Tele skillset : Stroke experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management, etc), PCA pumps
o Medication gtt management to include : Cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, IVF
● Support within the Department:
o Supervisor
o Charge RN – may or may not have patients
o Resource RN – will assist with Admissions/Discharges
o RT, 24/7 – not dedicated to this unit specifically
o Hospitalist, 24/7 - not dedicated to this unit specifically
o Phlebotomy: Combined effort between RNs, IV team
o IV/VAT Team
● Technology/Equipment:
o EMR: EPIC
o IV Pumps: Alaris
o Med Dispensing: Omnicell
● Floating:
o Within region and scope of practice
o Will be required to float per region needs – will require floating to all facilities listed below, as needed, within scope of practice – DECLINE if not agreeable
▪ Region 1 - Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH (peds only) -- could float to any of the facilities within region if the need arises
▪ If floating mid-shift, Traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities (will remain on the clock)
● Orientation (facility and unit) :
o NEO
o 2 days departmental
● Scheduling:
o Weekend rotation: every other
o Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays
o RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays – must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours
o Shift times: 0650-1910; 1850-0710
o Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks
