CFI Consultants LLC is seeking a detail-oriented Social Media Investigator to support active litigation and investigative matters through structured monitoring of publicly available online activity.   Ideal candidates are naturally curious, detailed oriented, analytical and comfortable navigating online platforms and digital information environments.   

 

This role involves conducting initial and ongoing social media investigations, identifying relevant online presence, monitoring behavior patterns over time, and escalating significant findings to clients, attorneys and internal stakeholders using sound professional judgment. 

 

Candidates with investigative, litigation, SIU, fraud, research, or analytical backgrounds are encouraged to apply.  Strong social media proficiency, digital research ability, and critical thinking skills are highly valued, including from non-traditional professional backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct initial social media/background investigations upon case intake to identify online presence before content is altered or removed
• Perform routine follow-up searches (generally every 45 -90 days)
• Review publicly available activity across platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and similar sites
• Identify and document notable findings and escalate them internally or to clients
• Prepare clear, accurate, and defensible documentation with narrative explanations when warranted
• Collaborate with attorneys, investigators, and case management staff while maintaining strict confidentiality
  

Ethics & Compliance

• All research must rely exclusively on publicly available information and comply with firm policies, ethical standards, and applicable laws.  Investigators are strictly prohibited from friending, following, messaging, or otherwise interacting with monitored parties or engaging in deceptive practices.  
• Maintain professional judgment, discretion, and confidentiality at all times
  

Qualifications

Required

• Strong proficiency navigating and analyzing social media platforms and online behavior
• Excellent written communication and documentation skills
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously
• Sound judgment and discretion when identifying and escalating issues
• Ability to identify behavioral patterns, inconsistencies and relevant investigative indicators
  

Preferred

• Background in investigations, litigation support, insurance SIU, fraud support, compliance, or research roles
• Familiarity with OSINT (Open-Source Intelligence) or public-source research methods
• Individuals with backgrounds in Criminal Justice, Insurance claims, Paralegal studies, Journalism, or digital investigations
• Use of AI and advanced research tools may be introduced under strict firm-approved guidelines
  

*A bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred but not required where relevant experience or demonstrated skill exists.
