Manufacturing Planning Engineer

Every airframe skin and bonded structure that leaves this floor depends on a plan that is buildable the first time. This role turns engineering intent into a sequenced, resourced manufacturing plan that protects schedule, quality, and cost on commercial, business, and defense work. You will sit where design, the shop, and the customer meet—and you will be measured by whether parts flow, not by how complete the paperwork looks.

Performance Objectives

• Release complete manufacturing plans—routings, work instructions, tooling calls, and inspection points—so new and changed parts launch without unplanned stops.
• Cut planning-driven rework and late engineering changes by closing gaps between the model, the process, and the floor before the first article.
• Balance capacity across bonding, forming, machining, and finishing so promised ship dates hold without idle critical resources.
• Stand up and improve standard work for repeat programs, shortening planning cycle time while keeping special-process controls intact.
• Lead cross-functional resolution of build issues within the same shift they surface, and lock the fix into the plan so it does not recur.
• Give program and operations leaders a clear view of plan status, constraints, and recovery options before a slip becomes a customer miss.

Environment & Resources

You will work inside a vertically integrated aerostructures operation that builds metal-bonded skins and related structures for multiple platforms. Planning sits with manufacturing engineering and production control, close to the people who run the cells. You will use the company’s ERP/MES, CAD viewers, and controlled document system, with access to process specialists, quality, and tooling.

Essential Qualifications

• Proven record planning or industrial-engineering complex metal aerostructures, including bonded or formed assemblies, not only machined details.
• Ability to write routings and work instructions that operators can run and auditors can trace.
• Working knowledge of aerospace configuration control, special-process requirements, and first-article discipline.
• Skill reading engineering data and translating it into sequence, time, tooling, and inspection without waiting for a perfect package.
• Experience using ERP or MES to release, status, and revise plans in a live production environment.
• Clear communication with shop leads and engineers when the plan and the part disagree.
