Facilities Manager

I. POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Facilities Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the overall maintenance, cleanliness and functionality of our facilities. This role involves strategic planning, coordination of maintenance activities, and ensuring a safe and efficient working environment. The Facilities Manager will lead a team of maintenance and custodial professionals while collaborating with all other departments to achieve organizational goals.

II. RESPONSIBILITIES:

A. Facilities Maintenance: Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance programs to ensure the efficient operation of all facilities. Conduct regular inspections to identify areas requiring maintenance or improvement. Coordinate and oversee repair and maintenance activities, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and structural components. Manage relationships with external contractors and service providers. B. Safety and Compliance: Implement and enforce safety protocols to ensure a secure working environment for all employees. Stay current with local, state, and federal regulations related to facilities management and ensure compliance. Conduct regular safety drills and training sessions for staff. C. Budget Management: Develop and manage the facilities budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and resource optimization. Obtain competitive bids for services and negotiate contracts to maximize value. D. Space Planning and Utilization: Collaborate with various departments to optimize space utilization. Plan and coordinate office relocations or reconfigurations. Lead and manage a team of maintenance and custodial staff. Provide training, mentorship, and performance evaluations for team members. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment. F. Emergency Response: Develop and maintain emergency response plans for various scenarios. Act as the primary point of contact during facility-related emergencies.

III. QUALIFICATIONS:

A. Education: Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Relevant certifications in facilities management are a plus. B. Experience: Proven experience in facilities management, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role. Demonstrated experience in budget management and cost control. C. Skills: Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Excellent organizational and project management abilities. Knowledge of building systems, codes, and regulations. Proficiency in computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS). D. Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
