Project EngineerThis is an entry level rotational program for recent college graduates with 0-2 years work experience. The Project Engineer participates in Suffolk's two-year career development program, Career Start. Join us for the chance to learn the industry and lay the foundation for lifelong success.ResponsibilitiesEstimating Responsibilities:Assist with a Subcontractor databaseAssist with assembling Bid Documents for pricingDocument Take-off's: Specification review and preliminary scope developmentQuantity take-off, use of "Digitizer", manual scales, etc.Organize the take-off using spreadsheetsDevelop bid clarifications and RFI'sParticipate in the project "Walk-Through" as requiredReview trade duration (with subcontractors) for input to the Project ScheduleAssist with the development and updating of the scope sheet for subcontractor pricingDevelop Trade Spreadsheet for Subcontractors' BidsAssist with Subcontractor pricingAssist in development of the detailed estimateParticipate in Architect/Owner MeetingsAssist with Preparation of "Hard Bids"Assist in writing: Qualifications and Assumptions for ContractEstablishing the Accepted Value EngineeringEstablishing the Alternate PricingConfirming the Document ListField Operations Responsibilities:Gain a basic knowledge and understanding of document controlKnowledge on reading and processing basic shop drawings and comparing them to project documents. Verification of shop drawings to field conditionsGain a basic understanding of the Exhibit B processAssist in maintenance of project filesSupport the quality control and punch list processGain a basic understanding of the construction process, including the means and methods of various tradesAssist with site logistics and Construction Management PlanAssist with establishing and maintaining vertical and horizontal control on the projectAssist with safety requirements on the jobAssist with the Baseline Schedule updatesAssist Superintendent with project documentation including the daily reportProject Management Responsibilities:Assist with creation of Change Orders and understand the processes and procedures around themAssist with purchasing process, from procurement through execution of the Subcontract/POAssist with the back charge processAssist with processing of vendor and subcontractor requisitionsKnowledge on reading and processing shop drawings and comparing them to project documentsGain a basic understanding of contract documentsAssist with the owner requisition processSupport the punch list process and work with the team to develop O&M Manuals and as-built warranty informationAssist with the submittal, procurement, and delivery processParticipate in project meetingsQualificationsBachelors degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Liberal Arts, or a related field0-2 years of related experienceComputer LiterateGood communication skillsAccurate with an attention to detailCandidate must possess Suffolk's Core Values: Passion, Integrity, Hard Work, Professionalism, and CaringWorking ConditionsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing.
