Senior Data Engineer

Thisisahigh-impactroleforanexperiencedengineerwithatrackrecordofarchitectingandimplementingscalabledataplatforms—ideallyinfinancialortradingenvironments—whocantalkandthinkdatafromingestiontoMIdashboards. KeyResponsibilities Architecture&Development AssumeownershipofaSnowflake-centricDataLakehouseintegratingstructured,semi-structured,andunstructureddata. DevelopandsupportrobustETL/ELTpipelinesthatingestandtransformdatafrommultipleinternalsystems(trading,CRM,finance,risk,etc.)andexternalAPIs. Implementdatamodels,schemas,andtransformationframeworksoptimisedforanalyticalandregulatoryusecases. Applybestpracticesindataversioning,orchestration,andautomationusingmoderndataengineeringtools. Ensurescalability,datalineage,andgovernanceacrossthedatalifecycle. Reportsanddatavisualisation BuildandownsemanticmodelsontopofSnowflake(DirectQueryandImport),usingDAX,calculationgroups,RLS/OLS,andincrementalrefresh. Developoperationalreports,dashboardsanddataextracts DataGovernance&Quality Maintainhighdataintegrity,privacy,andsecurityalignedwithFCAandGDPRrequirements. Monitorandoptimisequeryperformanceandstorageefficiency. Cross-FunctionalCollaboration Partnerwithbusinessunits(Trading,Finance,Marketing,Compliance,Operations)tocapturedatarequirementsandtranslatethemintorobusttechnicalsolutions. Supportregulatory,management,andoperationalreportingrequirementsthroughstructureddatamodels. Skills&Experience(Non-negotiable) Experienceinfinancialservices,trading,orfintechenvironments. ProvenexperiencedesigninganddeliveringDWH/DeltaLakehouseusingSnowflake. ExpertlevelSQLanddatamodellingexpertise(star/snowflakeschemas,dimension/almodelling). 2+yearswritingdbtmodelsinproduction.Comfortablewithsources,snapshots,tests,macros,exposures,andthemedallion(bronze/silver/gold)pattern. 3+yearsbuildingproductionPowerBIonenterprisewarehouses.ExpertDAX(timeintelligence,variables,virtualrelationships,calculationgroups),PowerQuery/M,TabularEditor,DAXStudio. StrongSQLonSnowflake.Understandwarehousesizing,clustering,queryprofiles,andthecostLeversthatmatter. Familiaritywithorchestrationandtransformationframeworks. Hands-onexperiencewithdataanalysis,visualisation,andoperationalreportingtools. Excellentcommunicationskillsandabilitytotranslatebusinessrequirementsintoscalabledataarchitecture. Skills&Experience(nicetohave) AbilitytocreatescriptsinPythonoranotherscriptinglanguage. ExperiencewithAWS(ECS,S3,IAM),Terraform,Git/GitHubActions. PowerBIembedded,Fabric,oracredibleopiniononwhennottousethem. ExposuretoMicrosoftFabricDirectLake,SnowflakeCortex/Claude.aiconnector,orotherAI-on-warehousepatterns.
