Responsibilities:
- Define and lead the comprehensive strategy for accounting, controllership, and financial reporting, aligned with business priorities, corporate standards, and local regulatory framework.
- Ensure the quality, timeliness, and integrity of financial, regulatory, and financial statements under your purview, as well as the appropriate escalation of material risks and technical issues.
- Direct the closing processes, reconciliations, variance analysis, and associated controls, ensuring operational discipline and adherence to critical timelines.
- Act as a point of reference for Finance, control areas, auditors, regulators, and corporate stakeholders on accounting, regulatory, risk, and financial governance matters.
- Lead the adoption of accounting policies and regulatory changes, assessing impacts, defining accounting treatments, and elevating executive recommendations for approval.
- Strengthen the internal control framework, including SOX controls where applicable, and lead internal, external, and regulatory audits with a focus on effective remediation.
- Drive centralization, standardization, automation, and continuous improvement of processes and controls to enhance efficiency, scalability, and data quality.
- Define critical capabilities, structure, and key talent for the function, promoting leadership, succession, development, and accountability.
- Manage the relationship with Head Office and with the external auditor, ensuring timely delivery of required information, proper coordination of requirements, and understanding of PPE accounting treatment.
Essential Criteria:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; a relevant master’s degree and CPA certification or equivalent are valued.
- Prominent and progressive experience in banking or financial services in accounting, controllership, financial/regulatory reporting, and audit coordination.
- Proficiency in IFRS/IFRS; exposure to GAAP, SOX, COSO, internal control, and risk management is highly valued.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage senior stakeholders, and operate in complex, multi-entity, or multi-country environments with fluency in Spanish and English.
- Requires maintaining a constant relationship with Head Office, hence fundamental knowledge of IFRS and ability to interpret accounting and its adjustments, as well as understanding the accounting treatment of PPE.
- Professional proficiency in Spanish and English, with the capacity to effectively interact in multicultural environments.
