MEAT/DEPT LEADER

Kroger

Plan, organize, train and direct Meat department associates; perform production and customer service functions; maximize store sales and profits. Demonstrate the company’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety. Responsibilities Develop maximum customer relations through friendliness and courtesy and implementation of all company policies. Be alert and assist in store security. Handle customer complaints. Keep department temperature logs accurately updated and maintain them. Train associates on accurate temperature logging. Price and display merchandise; maintain proper signage, product rotation, freshness, quantity, quality and proper space allocation. Provide input on department budgets, goals and results. Train and develop all Meat department employees, emphasizing customer courtesy and productivity and proper application of technical skills. Implement company programs and adhere to policies and procedures, ensuring a work environment free of unlawful harassment or discrimination. Make recommendations regarding hiring, firing, disciplining, demoting, transferring and evaluating all meat department associates. Promote and implement company initiatives and process improvements to direct reports positively. Manage people and organize workloads. Supervise and coach direct reports; conduct performance reviews and provide feedback. Work cooperatively in a high paced, sometimes stressful environment; manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, cooperative manner; act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information; seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues. Support and assist interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults. Remain capable of performing essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Qualifications Willing to work weekends and holidays. Effective written and oral communication skills. Ability to make intelligent decisions quickly. Tactfully and calmly handle stressful situations; make positive impression on associates and customers. Possess skills for effective production, merchandising, and customer services related to preparation and sale of products. Understand key components of department operations. Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to employment practices, safety and food handling. Experience in meat work or similar food preparation.
