Job Summary Provide Radiology services to patients in accordance with physician orders. Ensure patient safety and provide high‑quality imaging. Prepare Radiology rooms for procedures, develop images, maintain supply levels, and ensure diagnostic equipment is maintained and functioning within manufacturer specifications. Operate equipment efficiently according to safety standards. Exercise professional judgment and maintain a demeanor consistent with medical ethics. Apply knowledge of growth and development principles to identify patient and family needs relative to age‑specific patients. Demonstrate exceptional customer service skills: treat customers with courtesy and respect, communicate effectively, provide appropriate and efficient service, and exhibit professional behavior at all times. Commit to self‑improvement and maintain strict patient and staff confidentiality. Essential Responsibilities Perform quality general radiographic and specialty images using clinical protocols. Position patients to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest while respecting their comfort and ability. Use proper radiographic techniques and evaluate images for technical quality. Educate patients across all age groups—geriatrics, adults, adolescents, and pediatrics—regarding imaging procedures. Contact physicians for discrepancies and follow radiology policy for changing orders from referring providers. Adhere to cooperative‑wide personal protection equipment, universal precautions, medical waste regulations, infection control, safety, and other OSHA policies and procedures. Accurately input patient information into the electronic medical record and the Radiology Information System (RIS). Select the current account, complete the patient for the appropriate procedure, and follow the organizational identification policy. Observe patients during procedures and report any changes to personnel. Ascertain allergy status and respond to contrast reactions per policy and procedure manual. Provide timely, responsive, expert services to patients, physicians, and other employees. Communicate delays and resolution plans. Promote patient‑focused care throughout daily activities. Maintain safe radiation levels at all times to minimize exposure. Follow written policy on radiation safety rules, perform equipment checks, conduct quality assurance, control, and radiation safety activities. Arrive at the start of the assigned shift ready to work, take lunch and break at appropriate times, and leave at the end of the shift. Keep the Radiology room neat, clean, and stocked. Assist the lead technologist or radiology leadership with new employee training, orientation, workflow monitoring, task assignment, and operational policy development. Communicate concerns to lead technologists and management. Work effectively with colleagues on and off‑site and rotate shifts and assignments as required. Basic Qualifications Graduate of an approved, accredited radiologic technology program by time of hire. License, Certification, Registration Certified Radiologic Technologist (Washington) required at hire. Basic Life Support required at hire. Additional Requirements Consistently demonstrates knowledge and expertise in performing required procedures and exams. Demonstrates strong communication and problem‑solving skills in working with physicians, customers, and co‑workers. Works well as a team member in conjunction with providers through the Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington organization. Is highly knowledgeable about and strictly adheres to radiation safety, safety precautions, and infection control practices. Demonstrates a strong commitment to providing consistent excellent customer service. Supports the KFHPW strategy and mission statement. Communicates effectively with all populations, including infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
