Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Oncology RN for a night shift position requiring NJ or Compact RN licensure and 2 years of oncology experience.

Details

• Inpatient Medical Surgical Oncology unit
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
• Every other weekend required
• Willing to float to other units, including the Ridgewood Observation Unit as needed
• Meditech EMR experience preferred

Requirements

• Active NJ or Compact RN license
• 2 years of Med/Surg Oncology experience (candidates with less than 2 years must have strong oncology experience)
• BLS certification required to start
• Prior travel nursing experience required, with no clinical or professional cancellations
• Skilled in IV therapy/infusions, accessing and managing ports, and central line/implanted line care
• PICC line care experience
• Experience starting and maintaining IVs
• Experience administering blood and blood products
• Chemotherapy administration experience preferred
• Current Nursys verification required
• Proof of completed COVID-19 vaccination series and booster required
• One supervisory/manager reference dated within one year of assignment start required

Additional Information

• Provide medical-surgical nursing care to an inpatient oncology patient population
• Administer chemotherapy and manage central lines, PICC lines, and ports as part of daily responsibilities
• Must pass a Basic Arrhythmia Exam with a minimum score of 80% and no retakes permitted
• Must be proficient in systematic EKG rhythm interpretation, heart rate calculations, and identification of atrial, ventricular, junctional, paced rhythms, and heart blocks
• Must begin required lab work within two business days of offer acceptance
• Prior permanent employees of the facility are not eligible for this travel assignment
• Local candidates within 75 miles of the facility are accepted at the local rate
