Registered Nurse - CVICU

Job Description

Job Summary:
Provide specialized critical care nursing services to patients in the CVICU, managing post-operative open heart surgery cases, ventilated patients, and those with complex medical devices, ensuring optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate and monitor cardiovascular patients, including those with fresh hearts, chest tubes, lumbar drains, and renal failure.
• Administer medications, manage ventilators, and operate advanced cardiac devices such as Impella, IABP, and CRRT using Prismax.
• Conduct post-operative care, including Swan-Ganz catheter management, temp pacers, Alines, and chest tube care.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement nursing care plans.
• Float within ICU, PACU, ED, and IMC units to ensure patient care continuity based on census and acuity.
• Document patient progress and ensure compliance with all certification and licensing requirements.

Qualifications:

• Active NJ or Compact Registered Nurse license required at submission.
• Minimum of 2 years of recent CVICU or SICU experience; training in CVICU preferred.
• Valid BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required at submission.
• Demonstrated experience with open-heart post-op recovery, Swan-Ganz, Flotrack, and chest tubes.
• Ability to work night shifts (3x12 hours) and adhere to schedule requirements.
• Willingness to float across ICU, PACU, ED, and IMC units as needed.
