Opportunity at Altana As we continue to scale our government business we are seeking a dynamic Sales Engineer to join our team. As a Sales Engineer at Altana Technologies, you’ll be at the forefront of our sales initiatives, playing a crucial role in translating technical jargon into practical value for our clients and partners. This role requires a blend of technical acumen and interpersonal skills, as you will present our innovative solutions to diverse audiences, from technical contributors to executives. Responsibilities Deeply understand trade, defense, economic security, and the associated subject matter, Altana’s technology, and our customer base, and communicate effectively. Support the sales process to potential and existing customers in the customs and trade space, identifying new use cases to address stakeholder needs before they are articulated. Become a power‑user of the Altana platform, using customer insight to produce and brief original, insightful analysis that facilitates the sales cycle. Contribute to the Altana product development process in collaboration with product managers, data scientists, engineers, and customer‑facing stakeholders. Engage in firm‑building activities, helping to establish Altana’s presence across the public‑sector business (e.g., recruiting and building domain expertise). Qualifications 3+ years of experience in the public‑sector space, with knowledge of international trade processes, defense, or national and economic security, and existing solutions in the open and commercial data environment. Experience delivering software tools and frameworks; technical skills, including modern AI tools, are a major plus. Excellent presentation skills, able to communicate effectively to both technical and executive audiences, whether in impromptu whiteboard discussions or prepared demos. Ability to correlate a customer’s specific business problems with Altana’s solutions. Working knowledge of government operations or procurement processes is a plus. Passion for tackling complex challenges within global trade. Benefits and Compensation US salary range: $100,000 – $115,000 USD. Competitive equity grants are included in most full‑time offers.
