Assistant HS Girls Varsity Basketball Coach JobID: 1125 Position Type: Athletics/Activities/ Coaching Date Posted: 8/19/2026 Location: Phoenixville Area High School Performance Responsibilities: Assist theGirls' Head Basketball Coachwith the Program. Assist with developing, monitoring, supervising, and training beginners and advanced student-athletes to compete in Basketball. Motivate and mentor student-athletes both on and off of the Field. Commit to building relationships with and have a willingness to coach and mentor student-athletesacademically and athletically. Instruct student-athletes in fundamental skills, strategies,and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. Instruct/guide student-athletes tolead to the formulation and enhancement of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, self-confidence and good sportsmanship. Ensure the safety and well-being of student-athletes. Foster teamwork, sportsmanship, and skills development. Cooperatein a timely manner, with SchoolAthletic Officeand the District Athletic Department,in regard torequests for pertinent informationthat mightbe periodically required. Meetall requirements set forth by theDistrictBoard of Education, the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA),and the PennsylvaniaDepartment of Education. Model the behavior expected of our student-athletes includingtimeliness to practices, being positive and enthusiastic, being respectful, and practicingconstructive criticism while upholding the disciplines of the program. Seta positive example and maintain a suitable sideline conduct, including the use of appropriate language, at all times. Bedressed appropriately at all practices and games. Provideall applicable in-season training rules as well as any that may apply to out-of-season conduct to team members in writing prior to the start of the season. Followappropriate due process procedures when violations occur. Follow the District Athletic Department Policy as outlined in the Coaches Handbook and meetall criteria as outlined in the job description. Recognizethe need to be aware of and implement all applicable administrative policies set forth by the District Board of Education, Superintendent of Schools, School Principals, Conference Leagues,and PIAA. Assist with scheduling and completinga full season of contests including State-tournament games. Assist withpre-season practices on the first day permitted for the sport per PIAA rules and regulations. Participatein clinics and other available programs to improve coaching performance. Participatein School events (i.e. Awards Night,Athletic Boosters Meetings, etc). Showphysical vitality and enthusiasm for the sport and usegood judgment in decision-making. Acceptand profitfrom constructive criticism and suggestions for improving coaching performance. Is competent in techniques of the sport withplayers responding positively to directions given. Demonstratethe ability to adapt properly to changing game situations. Is well-versed and knowledgeable in matters pertaining to the sport as well as lookat ways to constantly improve knowledge and coaching techniques. Is innovative in using new coaching techniques and ideas in addition to already proven methods of coaching. Ensure that teamis well prepared for opponents. Providemotivation for team to meet/exceed their goals and stressthe value of acceptable behavior by each student-athlete. Assist with the maintenance and inventory of equipment and supplies. Skills/Essential Functions: Ability to motivate and inspire others. Ability to serve as a positive role model. Demonstrateknowledge of skills associated with this activity. Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment. Training/Certifications: Successful participation in a similar activity in high school and/or college. Evidence of successful past coaching experience at the high school or college level is preferred. Provide a satisfactory result on a StatePolice Records Check,Child Abuse Check, and FBI Fingerprint Background Check.
