Job Title: Electrical Assembler Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Assembler to wire and assemble custom industrial packaging machinery and automation equipment. In this role, you build and wire electrical control panels, route and terminate wiring, install control components, and read and interpret electrical schematics and ladder logic diagrams. You perform testing and troubleshooting of machine electrical systems to ensure safe, reliable operation. This position focuses on machine wiring and controls for industrial equipment, rather than residential or commercial electrical work.

Responsibilities

• Build and wire custom electrical control panels for industrial packaging machinery and automation equipment.

• Interpret and work from electrical schematics, ladder logic diagrams, and wiring prints to complete machine builds.

• Install PLC hardware, variable frequency drives (VFDs), servo drives, relays, terminal blocks, sensors, and other control components.

• Route, terminate, label, and organize electrical wiring to meet quality, safety, and reliability standards.

• Install motors, encoders, photo eyes, safety circuits, and machine control devices on industrial equipment.

• Use multimeters and other diagnostic tools to test electrical systems, verifying voltage, continuity, and proper machine operation.

• Troubleshoot wiring, controls, and electrical components during machine startup and commissioning.

• Support commissioning and final machine testing to ensure all electrical systems function as designed.

• Ensure all electrical assembly work complies with established quality procedures and safety standards.

• Collaborate with machine builders and automation technicians to integrate electrical systems with mechanical, pneumatic, and control assemblies.

• Use hand tools and appropriate equipment to assemble, secure, and maintain electrical components and wiring.

• Document work as required and communicate issues or improvements related to machine wiring and controls.

Essential Skills

• Demonstrated experience in electrical assembly and machine wiring for industrial machinery.

• Proficiency in building and wiring electrical control panels for automation equipment.

• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic diagrams, and wiring prints.

• Hands-on experience installing PLC hardware, VFDs, servo drives, relays, terminal blocks, sensors, and control components.

• Skill in routing, terminating, labeling, and organizing electrical wiring in control panels and machines.

• Experience installing motors, encoders, photo eyes, safety circuits, and machine controls.

• Proficiency using multimeters and other diagnostic equipment for voltage testing, continuity checks, and troubleshooting.

• Ability to verify proper machine operation through electrical testing and inspection.

• Experience troubleshooting wiring, controls, and electrical components during machine startup.

• Understanding of electrical quality and safety standards in an industrial environment.

• Comfort working with industrial machinery and automation equipment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Background in roles such as Electrical Assembler, Panel Builder, Control Panel Technician, Automation Technician, Industrial Electrician, Machine Builder, Electrical Technician, Mechatronics Technician, Industrial Controls Technician, or PLC Technician.

• Experience with machine building and panel building in an industrial or automation setting.

• Familiarity with pneumatics and their integration with electrical and control systems.

• Ability to work from blueprints and assembly drawings in addition to electrical schematics.

• Proficiency using hand tools and related equipment for electrical and mechanical assembly.

• Comfort working with automation equipment and industrial controls, including drives, sensors, relays, and motor controls.

Work Environment

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Decatur, AL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $34.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
