POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Supervisor assists the Department Manager in leading and coordinating operations across three shifts. This role plans and assigns workloads, supports supervisors, leads and employees, and helps ensure products meet established safety, quality, cost, efficiency, and delivery requirements. The Senior Supervisor provides hands-on technical and operational support, develops a cross-trained and flexible workforce, supports Lean and continuous improvement initiatives, and troubleshoots production issues to maintain quality, reduce lead times, and support efficient department operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB 

• Supervise, mentor, and provide direction to Finish Department employees across three shifts to ensure safe, efficient operations and consistent application of departmental expectations.
• Plan and coordinate production priorities, staffing, workloads, and workflow across all three shifts to meet safety, quality, cost, delivery, and production requirements.
• Maintain effective communication with the Finish Manager, supervisors, shift leads, Maintenance, and other departments regarding production status, staffing, equipment, quality concerns, chemical needs, and departmental priorities.
• Train and coach employees on established work instructions, operating procedures, safety requirements, and performance expectations; verify training effectiveness and maintain required documentation.
• Monitor Finish Department operations and workflow, including milling, napping, carbonizing, and perching; provide technical and operational support and make or coordinate adjustments necessary to address fabric, process, equipment, and production issues.
• Ensure production sheets, set tickets, machine specifications, training records, and other required production and quality documentation are completed accurately and maintained in accordance with established standards.
• Administer the Collective Bargaining Agreement, company policies, work rules, attendance requirements, and disciplinary guidelines consistently; promptly address and document employee performance, attendance, behavior, and safety concerns.
• Evaluate production processes and performance data to identify trends, determine root causes, and implement or support corrective actions and improvements in safety, quality, efficiency, cost, and throughput.
• Coordinate with Maintenance and the Finish Manager on equipment issues, preventive maintenance, and calibration activities, and support product and process trials with Design and other departments.
• Lead or support Tier 1 meetings and departmental communication regarding production expectations, priorities, safety concerns, performance, and operational issues.
• Support QMS requirements, ISO compliance, audits, Lean initiatives, KPIs, and continuous improvement activities.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS (The training, education, and/or experience necessary to fulfill the job)

• High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.
• Minimum of three years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment; experience supporting multiple shifts preferred.
• Working knowledge of manufacturing safety practices, including enforcement of safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.
• Experience with employee supervision, coaching, training, performance management, corrective action, and documentation.
• Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, conflict-resolution, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively across departments and shifts.
• Experience with Lean or similar continuous improvement practices and ISO 9001:2015 or an equivalent Quality Management System preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and the ability to effectively use company timekeeping and other business systems.
• Any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the job

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Work is performed primarily on the production floor in a textile manufacturing environment with exposure to industrial machinery, moving equipment, noise, airborne textile fibers, chemicals, and varying temperatures.
• Requires frequent standing, walking, bending, and movement throughout the production mill, with occasional lifting, pushing, or pulling of materials as needed.
• Requires use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including hearing protection and safety footwear, and other PPE as required by the task or area.
• Requires continuous awareness of operations and the ability to respond promptly to safety, production, equipment, quality, and employee issues across three shifts.

Work is performed in a fast-paced environment requiring sustained attention, sound judgment, and compliance with all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory 

M-F 6:30 PM-3:30 AM
