Pharmacy Technician

Assists the Pharmacist in the following areas:

1. Customer satisfaction

2. Processing medication orders

3. Preparing and delivering medications

4. Completing inventory control functions and

5. Additional assignments given by the Pharmacy Managers

Minimum Requirements:

Education: N/A

Experience: N/A

License/Registration/Certifications:

1. Must be registered as a pharmacy technician with the SC Board of Pharmacy

2. National Pharmacy Technician Certification and State Certification within 2 years of hire.

Preferred Requirements:

Preferred Education:

1. High School Graduate (or GED)

2. Graduate of accredited Pharmacy Technician Program

Preferred Experience:

1. Hospital Pharmacy Technician experience of 1 year (Clinical Area) or Retail Pharmacy

2. 2 years' experience preferred but not required

Preferred License/Registration/Certifications: N/A

Core Job Responsibilities:

1. Follows attendance, dress, education (including continuing education) and safety policies

2. Complies with appropriate regulatory agencies' requirements, e.g. DHEC, DEA, etc.

3. Retrieves, packages and labels all medications accurately for routine deliveries

4. Deliveries are prepared and ready to go out on time. Quickly and accurately delivers medication and retrieves necessary documents and materials from units for return to Pharmacy

5. Fills medication bins accurately and timely for Cart Exchange

6. Responds to STAT medication requests in a timely manner

7. Packing Medications for Unit Dose Delivery

8. Fills Department Requisitions

9. Dispenses controlled substances in accordance with established professional and current legal requirements to include labeling and record keeping

10. Stocks and checks assigned areas of the Pharmacy for out-of-date medications

11. Processes Crash Carts timely and Accurately

12. Restock automated dispensing cabinets

13. Other duties as assigned
