Energy Markets Quantitative Researcher - In-Office Houston

We are seeking a highly motivated Quantitative Researcher to join our Houston office. This is a high-impact opportunity to work closely with investment, trading, and technology teams to develop quantitative infrastructure, generate actionable market insights, and support investment decision-making across energy markets. This role reports directly to the Vice President of Technology and is fully in-office, five days per week. Responsibilities Develop, validate, and implement statistical and mathematical models for forecasting, pricing, and risk analysis Build scalable and production-ready analytics tools, workflows, and data pipelines using Python and SQL Partner closely with traders, developers, and risk teams to enhance quantitative infrastructure and strategy development Produce clear visualizations, reporting, and analytical insights for investment and senior leadership teams Support backtesting, model monitoring, and ongoing performance optimization Contribute to the continued evolution of Pan Capital’s quantitative analytics capabilities and data-driven investment process Qualifications Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field Strong quantitative, statistical, and analytical problem-solving skills Proficiency in Python and SQL required Experience working with large datasets and quantitative modeling techniques Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex findings clearly and effectively Collaborative mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment Exposure to energy markets, commodities, trading, or financial services is a plus Experience with visualization tools, APIs, cloud infrastructure, or machine learning techniques is advantageous Who Should Apply This role is well-suited for recent graduates or candidates with 0–3 years of experience seeking direct exposure to quantitative research, energy markets, and investment decision-making within a growing investment platform.
