Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Current RN license Certifications: Current BLS certification from AHA Must-Have: Current ACLS certification from AHA Description: The Registered Nurse is a clinical practitioner who coordinates and implements patient care specific to the age of the patient population served on the assigned unit. They ensure that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the unit's standards of care. Demonstrates performance consistent with the mission, philosophy, and goals of the unit and organization. Exhibits quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice. Treats staff, physicians, patients, and families with consideration and respect. Responsibilities include: Meeting the expectations of applicable competencies for their role. Obtaining and recording an initial assessment and establishing priorities according to patient age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs. Re-assessing patient systems systematically to identify progress and trends that require intervention. Developing and implementing a measurable individualized plan of care for the patient within the timeframe established by Nursing Standards of Care. Making comprehensive nursing decisions based on the interpretation of facts and evaluations of patient outcomes; modifying the plan of care based on these evaluations. Participating in patient and significant other health education and discharge planning. Implementing and documenting timely interventions appropriate to patient needs. Evaluating the plan of care. Performing various Point of Care testing procedures. Education and Skills: Graduate of an accredited program for Registered Nursing. Current knowledge and skills appropriate to the age and type of patient population served. Knowledgeable and sensitive to patients' rights in the delivery of care. Communicates in a clear and concise manner appropriate to the developmental age of the patient. Experience: All newly hired nurses with two or fewer years of experience as a Registered Nurse will be hired in at the entry-level status. A new hire can be considered for a higher clinical ladder level based on years of relevant experience in the clinical area, national professional nursing certification, or achievement of additional nursing education.
