Registered Nurse PACU

Description Relocation Assistance Available Under general supervision and in collaboration with other members of the health care team, uses clinical judgment skills to diagnose and treat human responses to actual or potential health problems. The RN is responsible for assessing, planning, directing, providing and evaluating nursing care for patients and coordinating nurses care activities with other health care disciplines. Essential Responsibilities Assessment: Perform accurate mult‑system assessments, including biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self‑care, education needs and discharge planning. Identify deviations from normal on routine lab diagnostic tests. Reassess patient throughout hospitalization. Perform complete discharge assessment. Planning: Develop an individual nursing plan of care. Coordinate patient care activities and discharge planning with other hospital and clinic departments and community agencies. Develop patient teaching plan and document on care plan or teaching plan. Appropriately delegate patient care activities based on patient's condition and scope of practice of other health care providers. Establish priorities for patient care. Classify acuity level of assigned patients. Implementation: Initiate appropriate measures based on protocol for management of the medical and/or surgical patient. Base nursing care on protocol in place for management of each patient. Correctly carry out the physicians plan of care. Accurately document in the EMR. Document care according to policy and procedure. Utilize a multidisciplinary approach when appropriate. Perform all necessary procedures correctly. Utilize available teaching plans in addressing patient teaching needs. Accurately calculate and administer medications. Initiate appropriate measures in emergency situations. Evaluation: Evaluate assessment methods, plan of care, and patient's response to treatment. Participate in unit quality assurance activities. Basic Qualifications Minimum nine (9) months of RN experience. Two (2) to five (5) years of critical care experience. Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Registered Nurse License (Oregon). Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 6 months of hire. NIH Stroke Scale Certificate within 6 months of hire. Basic Life Support. Advanced Cardiac Life Support required at hire. Additional Requirements Computer keyboarding skills. Advanced patient assessment skills. Able to coordinate care of up to two post‑anesthesia patients at a time. Able to respond to crisis situations calmly and appropriately. Able to work collaboratively with other members of the surgical team. Preferred Qualifications Previous health care experience. Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field. Two (2) to five (5) years of PACU experience preferred. PALS & NIHSS preferred upon hire/transfer. Notes Fair Share Call. #J-18808-Ljbffr
