We want to find an innovative, adaptable, and results-oriented Digital Product Owner to help develop and evolve our capabilities for our Distributed Energy Resource Management team in Waltham, MA (candidates may also reside in either, New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, or Maine). These capabilities will allow us to provide an always improving experience to our customers while reducing our costs to serve them. This role operates under a hybrid working model and is open to candidates based in either our Waltham, MA or Brooklyn, NY or Syracuse, NY office locations. Hybrid work expectations are subject to business needs and company policy.

Job Purpose

To meet our fossil-free future and effectively support our customers now and in the future, an effective Distributed Energy Resource (DER) Management plan is core of National Grid Electric roadmap. This will deliver technical and commercial solutions to maximize our network's availability to customers and deliver an effective Distribution System Operator (DSO); whether that's providing effective short, medium and long-term forecasting to optimize generation and low/zero carbon technology operation or delivering commercial arrangements to enable DER to provide network support; and delivers on the regulatory priorities across our New York and Massachusetts jurisdictions (e.g. Electric Sector Modernization Plan (ESMP)) to enable an electric network that supports the climate, clean energy, and equity goals and delivers the fair, affordable, and clean energy transition for all our customers and communities.

Digital DER Management solutions will revolutionize these activities and this role will take ownership of the development and delivery to enable National Grid to be recognized as the leading US utility to support ours and our customers' net zero ambitions.

Key Accountabilities

As a Digital Product Owner, you'll be a primary advocate for the customer and the strategy for delivering and meeting commitments for the DERMS portfolio. This will include the definition, planning, and execution of a broad range of outcome-focused products making up a coordinated and industry-defining portfolio.

You'll work closely with key New York and New England business stakeholders to build a cohesive strategy & vision, and drive the development and delivery of the DERMS portfolio for measurable outcomes.

Key responsibilities include the following:

• Partner with business stakeholders to define and align business and product vision and strategy.
• Partner with Product Management toward delivering desirable and sustainable solutions applying customer centricity and design thinking.
• Responsible for maintaining the content and the team’s backlog including user stories, enablers, and defects, maintaining work ready for the team to execute.
• Define and measure business impact and monitor performance of initiatives and communicate performance metrics to key stakeholders.
• Foster customer and stakeholder feedback loops to inform how well the solutions meet their needs and validate solution value.
• Sustain the constant refinement of the product vision, roadmap, strategy, and design.
• Leverage data to understand risks, impacts, scope and priorities of our business objectives, and enable the team to drive results.

Qualifications

• A degree directly related to or transferable to digital delivery and / or the energy system more broadly
• Proven experience in digital delivery preferred
• Comfortable in challenging the 'status quo' and driving change
• Ability to identify and resolve complex problems
• Experience successfully leading and motivating teams that are highly effective both in terms of impact and team culture
• Ability to support delivery of an industry leading judicious vision for a critical portfolio and be able to turn that into tangible and obtainable deliverables with a track-record for exceeding expectations
• Ability to get to the root of the problem quickly, develop frontier solutions in collaboration with a broad range of stakeholders and communicate that effectively to all levels within the organization and beyond
• Demonstrated communication skills with an ability to successfully navigate a complex organization and generate and maintain buy-in for ideas and plans.
• Demonstrated technical background, with demonstrated ability to partner effectively with engineering, designers, user experience, and data science
• Product development and implementation experience within a US energy utility would be hugely valuable

Salary

Waltham: $127k- $149k a year

Brooklyn: $136k- $160k a year

Syracuse: $114k- $133k a year
