\nThe Stepdown Unit serves as the bridge between the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and General Medical/Surgical Units. As an RN on this team, you will assist fellow caregivers in delivering exceptional care, from initial introduction to final send-off. In this role, you will interact directly with patients, families, and visitors, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and supply healthcare information as needed. Additionally, the Cleveland Clinic system provides nurses with many professional development resources, including furthering education and online/in-person courses to enhance your skills.

A PRN caregiver in this position works varying days and hours, including weekends and holidays.

\nA caregiver who excels in this role will:

Provide direct nursing care.

Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.
\n
\n

Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.
\n
\n

Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
\n
\n
- \n
- \n
Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
\n
\n
- \n
- \n
Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
\n
\n
- \n
- \n
Maintain professional growth and development through ongoing formal and informal education and clinical nursing study.
\n
\n
\nMinimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program)
\n
\n
- \n
- \n
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
\n
\n
- \n
- \n
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
\n
\n
\n
- \n
- \n
*If in a Critical Care area an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross must be presented upon hire or within first year of employment.
\n
\n

External applicants: two years of recent nursing experience
\n
\n

- \n
Internal Applicants: if less than two years’ experience but post orientation/90-day probationary period could be considered with Chief Nursing Officer level review and approval
\n
\n

Will consider licensed military RN experience
\n
\n
\nPreferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)
\n
Physical Requirements:

Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.

Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
\n - \n
Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
\n - \n
Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
\n - \n
Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
\n - \n
Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
\n - \n
Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Pay Range
\n \nMinimum hourly: $41.00
\n \nMaximum hourly: $45.00

A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set and education. The pay range displayed does not include any applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime, etc.).
