Substitute Bus Driver/Maintenance

Site Location Of Position: Maintenance, Operations, and Transportation Department

Term/Hours Of Position: Hours for this position will vary based on operational needs

Essential Functions Of This Position:

• Under the direction of the facilities and transportation director, and in association with the lead bus driver, drives a school bus over designated routes for the purpose of transporting students to and from school and/or school related activities
• Maintains student discipline on the bus
• Submits daily reports as required
• Cleans and washes buses
• Monitors fluids and lubricants on buses
• Makes minor repairs
• Performs district maintenance and operation duties as designated by supervisor

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance
• First aid and CPR certification required
• License and Certificate Requirements: Possession of the required California Motor Vehicle Operator's license
• Possession of a School Bus Driver's Certificate issued by California Highway Patrol including passing a first aid examination

Screening Procedures: Prospective substitutes are invited to visit our District Office to pick up and complete a physical Substitute Packet at: 1200 N. Chester Ave. Bakersfield, CA 93308

Other Comments:

• The following documents must be attached to the application: Bus driver's certificate and DMV H-6 driving record report
• Substitutes will be required to successfully complete and pass a post offer Drug and Alcohol testing
• TB clearance
• Fingerprinting (Fingerprints must be paid for by the applicant. The fee is $49.00, payable in cash only and exact change is required)
• Copy of Driver's License
• Copy of Social Security Card

Salary: $23.31 Per Hours
