Senior Catia Mechanical Designer / CheckerThis opening is for a Senior Catia Mechanical Designer / Checker for Tooling fixture Body Shop background and experience.Interviews for qualified candidates in person or via Google Meet. Currently Comau has a hybrid work model: Four days in the office, one day work from home. Based on project performance (subject to change). One day; remote Four days; Comau Arlans Office (mandatory).We ask that you do not submit Product Designers or Engineers. The following key words / phrases are samples of Product Designers and what to look for: Sheetmetal Design, Plastic injection mold, Manufacturing Engineer developing and validating, electrified propulsion and automatic transmission Components and systems. HVAC systems with Plenums, Actuator driven mechanics, Design axle assemblies, suspension components, Tank shields, Design of metal and plastic windshield wiper components, Molded parts specialist, parts designed include moldings, fender vents, front grilles. Design (3D) and detail (2D) Emission control systems.Required Qualifications: Knowledge & Skills:Mechanical Designer I / for Body Shop Tooling of Body in White Assembly with GM tooling design background.Approximately 5 years of experienceNX CAD skills, GM, and knowledge of North American Auto Manufacturer standards and specifications for Body in White Tooling Fixtures.Strong understanding of Body Assembly, (geometry setting) and Fixture Tools for Framing lines, Bodyside Systems and Sub Assembly for tooling fixture design.Strong knowledge of auto assembly strategies (i.e. part flow within an assembly plant / body Shop), Understanding of how a GEO and Repot Systems function.Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, Fixtures, tools, and controls, using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment.Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed.Modify existing 3D and 2D models for "Kits" and create new designs for simple and intermediate and complex systems. Develop Kit Sheet showing before and after.Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems. Drive and understand customer specifications both corporate and plant and apply Comau standards for use in all aspects of mechanical designs.Strong Fixture and Detail stack up methodology and how it relates to machining and tool stack up.Understanding of customer specifications (corporate and plant), standards, and local and/or national.Familiar with NAAMS Standards, Customer Standards, Attributes in CAD file, using CAD Check options.Coordinate and review with Technical Leaders, Project Engineers, Sr. Mechanical Engineers, and colleagues to maintain consistency within a given project, and or to resolve design or other problems.Computers - Knowledge of Windows, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) and a high degree of competence with CAD platforms and associated application software.Vendor Coordination / Purch components: W in model space and paper space to bring in and ID supplier items.Skills: - Preferred Skills:Understanding of Mechanical Design Sequences / Controls documents to Controls Design along with customer deliverables.Ability to describe operation and maintenance of mechanical systems.Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.Analyzing Data or Information – Identifying. Understanding information provided by the customer, supplier and or processes of direction given. Possibly breaking it down to get a better, clear understanding.Troubleshooting - Determining causes of mechanical errors and deciding what to do about it.May be required to travel to other Comau Facilities, and customer site to assist in the installation / start-up and final machine acceptance.Education: - 5+ years Mechanical Design and Engineering experience in Body in White tooling fixtures and or Degree in Mechanical Technology or equivalent experience. Ability to work independently and within teams.
