Responsibilities
- Circulate in diverse OR cases, coordinating with anesthesia and the surgical team; manage instruments, supplies, and room turnover; ensure sterile technique and patient safety.
- May be required to float to other OR suites (general, ortho, neuro, ENT, etc). If floated, you will circulate (not scrub) and adapt to case needs.
- Document intraoperative events and patient status in the EMR (Epic experience preferred).
- Assist with patient positioning, draping, specimen labeling, specimen transport, and timely room turnover.
- Maintain inventory control, equipment integrity, and IV/access management; respond to intraoperative changes and assist with surgical equipment as needed.
- Schedule considerations include holiday and on-call requirements as described below; stay flexible to meet unit and patient care needs.

Requirements
- Active RN license in Vermont (or eligible for VT licensure) to practice as an OR nurse in the assignment location.
- BLS certification required; CNOR certification preferred.
- Minimum 2 years OR RN experience with recent competency in cardiovascular/open heart surgery.
- Prior travel experience required; Epic EMR experience within the past 2 years is required.
- Large, 500+ bed academic teaching hospital experience preferred.
- May be required to float to other OR suites; if floated, duties will be circulating only.
- Schedule includes travel-specific requirements: must work 2 of the 4 holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Christmas Eve, New Year’s Day); two 12-hour weekday calls (1900–0715) and usually one weekday call unless short-staffed; one full weekend of call every 5 weeks.
- Bi-weekly orientations and ongoing credentialing steps will occur during onboarding.
