Diesel Mechanic

Insight Global is seeking a Road Technician for a leading equipment rental client. This individual will be responsible for maintaining and repairing diesel-powered equipment in the field, with a strong focus on preventative maintenance to reduce breakdowns. This is a fast-paced, field-based role requiring independence, troubleshooting ability, and flexibility with workload and hours. Day-to-Day Perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections Diagnose and repair diesel and electrical issues Respond to service calls and breakdowns Support equipment installs as needed Travel between job sites and manage daily schedule Participate in on-call rotation Must-Haves 4–6+ years of diesel technician experience Strong electrical diagnostics/troubleshooting Experience with PMs, repairs, and service calls Comfortable working independently in the field Basic computer/tech skills Open to OT + on-call rotation Plusses Cummins, CAT, or OEM background Generators, compressors, or HVAC exposure Experience with United Rentals, Herc, EquipmentShare What a good fit looks like Has worked in the field, not just a shop Can confidently diagnose electrical issues on their own Used to handling multiple jobs per day (fast pace) Doesn’t need hand-holding — self-sufficient Comfortable with unpredictable hours / workload swings Takes ownership when equipment is down (urgent mindset) Compensation $30/hr - $45/hr Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
