Accountant IV

Job Title: Accountant IV Organization: ODVA - Central Office, Department of Veterans Affairs Location: 2132 NE 36th St, Oklahoma City, OK 73111 Annual Salary: $70,000 Job Type: Full Time, Regular Compensation. Responsibilities Lead the monthly accounting close process; prepare GAAP balance sheets and income statements. Review general ledger accounts for accuracy and completeness. Prepare and post monthly journal entries and accruals. Analyze financial statement variances between budget and prior periods. Record and track all company fixed assets; calculate and post monthly depreciation expenses. Maintain the fixed asset sub‑ledger system; monitor capital expenditures against approved budgets. Oversee disposal or retirement of assets. Prepare comprehensive monthly bank reconciliations; investigate and resolve cash discrepancies promptly. Reconcile balance sheet accounts to supporting schedules; support internal and external audit requests. Perform other related duties as assigned consistent with the responsibilities of the position and agency operations. Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance or a closely related field plus four years of professional accounting experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficiency in Excel, QuickBooks and PeopleSoft preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial statements and reports; computer applications related to accounting. Ability to analyze and compile data, identify patterns and errors; use computer applications to demonstrate financial trends and prepare analysis and reports clearly. Ability to prepare financial statements and reports, review and analyze financial information, present facts and opinions objectively and clearly orally and in writing; organize and conduct multiple activities simultaneously; exercise sound judgment.
