City/State Charlottesville, VA Work Shift First (Days) Overview: Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse for our Oncology and Hematology Clinic at the Phillips Cancer Center. This is a full time, Day shift position in Charlottesville, VA. Hours : Four 9-hour shifts, 8AM to 5PM between Monday to Friday with rotating days off. No nights or weekends. Sign on bonus of $10,000 available for qualified candidates. About the position: The Oncology Clinic RN will assist six physicians and three advanced practice providers within the physician’s clinic group at the Cancer Center with rooming patients, vital signs, IV placement, port access, and phlebotomy. This position will also assist providers with care coordination for oncology patient populations to develop, participate and monitor multidisciplinary collaboration of services. The Center can expect to see between 80-90 patients per day. This role is expanding and will include additional duties within care coordination. The Physician Practice and Clinic Registered Nurse provides nursing care to patients in a physician practice or ambulatory clinic setting. Reporting to practice or nursing leadership, this role assesses patients, assists with procedures and examinations, administers medications and immunizations, and provides patient education and care coordination. The nurse manages triage, follow-up, and communication with patients between visits and coordinates with physicians and office staff. This role matters because skilled outpatient nursing supports chronic disease management, prevention, and continuity of care. The nurse handles clinical documentation in the electronic health record, supports population health outreach, and helps the practice run safely and efficiently. MINIMUM REQUIRED COMPETENCIES Skilled ambulatory assessment and triage. Knowledge of chronic disease management, prevention, and immunizations. Ability to assist with procedures and examinations. Strong patient education and care coordination. Effective telephone and message triage. Proficiency with the electronic health record and clinical documentation. Comfort supporting population health outreach. RESPONSIBILITIES Assesses patients and performs triage in person and by phone. Assists physicians with examinations and procedures. Administers medications, immunizations, and treatments. Provides patient education and self-management support. Coordinates referrals, follow-up, and continuity of care. Manages patient messages and results within scope. Supports prevention and population health outreach. Maintains a safe, clean, and stocked clinical environment. Documents care in the electronic health record. Performs other related duties as assigned. Education Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing required BSN or MSN Preferred Certification/Licensure Registered Nurse Licensure ONC certified RN preferred BLS required within 90 days of hire Experience 2 years of acute nursing preferred Oncology Nursing experience preferred Cancer experience Preferred Infusion experience preferred One to two years of ambulatory, clinic, or medical-surgical nursing experience is preferred. The base pay range for full-time employment is $38.01 - $55.42 hourly.Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
