Position Title Limited-Term Instructor of Dental Hygiene Position Details Posting Number: PTI00183P Classification Title: Part-Time Instructors Position Type: Full Time Faculty Posting Type: Internal/External Department Dental Hygiene College Perimeter College Campus College-wide Position Description Limited-Term Instructors are full-time faculty hired on a semester-to-semester basis. After the first semester, the position is renewable for a maximum of three semesters. The position is teaching-focused: 100% of the workload is instruction. The primary responsibilities include teaching a full instructional load of Dental Hygiene courses in-person. Courses include Dental Radiology Lab, Clinical Dental Hygiene, and other offerings within the discipline. The position requires maintaining an active campus presence. Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching, student support, and collaborative engagement in an academic environment centered on access and student success. Required Experience 2+ years of full-time clinical practice or equivalent as a licensed dental hygienist. Required Education A master's or bachelor's degree in dental hygiene or a related field is required. Additionally, faculty must hold an associate or bachelor's degree in dental hygiene from a program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA). Preferred Qualifications/Experience Master’s degree in dental hygiene or a related field One-year college-level teaching experience Local anesthesia certification Dental diode laser training Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to teach effectively using a variety of methods Ability to create a sense of belonging for a varied student population and facilitate student learning in both in-person and virtual learning environments Effective oral and written communication skills Excellent communication, organizational, and computer skills (able to maintain appropriate records) Demonstrated knowledge and use of instructional technology Ability to collaborate with colleagues to achieve discipline, department, or college goals Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations Hold a current state of Georgia license in dental hygiene. Pre-Employment Requirements A criminal background check is required. Work Hours Position may require non-standard hours (including day, evening, online, hybrid, weekend, and/or other campus locations). Salary 10 month salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
