Job Summary As a Clinical Nurse (RN) on the 6300 Surgical Oncology unit at Duke University Hospital, you will provide patient‑centred, whole‑person care for patients who have undergone surgery for a cancer diagnosis. The unit is a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary environment that cares for intermediate and step‑down level patients across four services: Gynecology Oncology, Urology, Plastic Surgery, and Ear, Nose & Throat. Responsibilities Plan, provide, supervise and document professional nursing care utilizing the nursing process (assess, plan, implement, evaluate) for patients under physician orders and established policies. Delegate tasks and supervise other licensed and unlicensed caregivers; act as a team leader or charge nurse as assigned. Assist nursing personnel in delivering care and support other staff and formal learners. Monitor and initiate corrective action to maintain the environment of care, including equipment and material resources. Participate in professional development, maintain required competencies, and identify learning needs. Act as a preceptor and support the development of other staff and learners. Identify and participate in clinical or operational performance improvement opportunities and activities. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited BSN or Associate’s Degree in Nursing (or Nursing Diploma) program. Current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina; BLS required. Registered nurses without a Bachelor’s degree must enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of start date and complete the program within five years.
