Shipping Clerk

Reports to: Vice President - Umlaut

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Shipping Clerk Job Summary:

This position is responsible for accurately handling and overseeing inbound and outbound product and the scheduling of railcars and trucks for a range of clients. The person occupying this position is also responsible for accuracy of documentation to include bills of lading, shipping documents and Inventory Control documents.

Shipping Clerk Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

· Operate a Transload System daily

· Operate Railroad Websites daily

· Organize and schedule appointments for trucks to load railcars, railcars to load trucks and truck to truck with customers

· Assign parking spots for incoming loads waiting in line

· Assign and enter railcar numbers with incoming product including documentation on location on track

· Transfer documentation to customers verifying product was picked up

· Assist with all administrative duties specific to the rail operations

· Coordinate with operations to have rail cars moved as needed

· Follow Safety and Food Safety Polices & Procedures.

Shipping Clerk Food Safety/Defense Responsibilities:

· Verifying documentation for seal numbers, washouts and cleanliness logging for all loads

· Shipping Clerk Skills/Abilities:

· Ability to communicate with coworkers, customers, and vendors

· Dependable, highly organized, and detail oriented

· Ability to act independently and use discretionary judgement

· Ability to independently identify problems and determine solutions

· Above average knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Transload Systems

Shipping Clerk Education and Experience:

· Required: High School Diploma

· Required: Company Approved Driver

· Preferred: Inventory control experience

· Preferred: Railroad Experience

· Preferred: Warehouse Experience or Transload Experience

Shipping Clerk Physical and/or Travel Requirements:

· Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time

· Prolonged periods of sitting and standing may be required in various environments including both indoor and outdoor.

· Ability to safely ambulate from flat surfaces to platforms and/or on and off various pieces of equipment
