Postdoctoral Research Associate

Position Description The Chattopadhyay Ecohydrology Lab at Texas State University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work at the interface of eco-hydrology, freshwater ecology, and environmental DNA (eDNA) analysis . The postdoc will play a central role in developing a new research program focused on intermittent stream systems , with particular emphasis on understanding how hydrologic context and environmental gradients shape biodiversity signals for freshwater macroinvertebrates . This position is ideal for a motivated early‑career scientist seeking to grow expertise in interdisciplinary environmental research while contributing to high‑impact publications and grant development. Required Qualifications PhD in ecology, environmental science, hydrology, biology, or a closely related field (completed by start date). Experience with freshwater field research and environmental sampling. Familiarity with eDNA workflows , including water sampling and filtration (wet‑lab processing experience is welcome but not required). Working knowledge of R/Python for ecological data analysis (data handling, visualization, multivariate analyses). Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within an interdisciplinary team. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in stream or river systems , particularly intermittent or disturbed systems. Exposure to eDNA data interpretation (metabarcoding and/or qPCR). Experience integrating ecological data with hydrologic or spatial datasets.
