Matrix Providers is hiring a Physician to join our team of talented professionals who provide health care services to our Military Service Members and their families in San Antonio, TX .

• Employment Status: Full Time
• Compensation: This is an hourly position, paid bi-weekly.
  • $142.50-$150/ hour
• Schedule: Monday Thru Friday 0730-1630

Requirements: The Physician must have and meet the following:

• Degree: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.).
• Education: Must have graduated from an accredited medical school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education. Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) at the time the degree was obtained (e.g. Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC), College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC). A
  Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must provide education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to accredited schools in the United States.
  • Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.
• Certification: Board-eligible or board certified.
• Internship/Residency: Successful completion of an internship and residency program corresponding to the specialty required in the Task Order, which the Accreditation Council has approved for Graduate Medical Education or the Committee on Postdoctoral Training of the American Osteopathic Association. After obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree, a candidate must have had at least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting (i.e., a 1-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a hospital or an institution accredited for such training). For this requirement, graduate training programs include only internship, residency, and fellowship programs approved by accrediting bodies recognized within the United States or Canada. Descriptions of such programs are described below.
  • An internship program involves broadly based clinical practice in which physicians acquire experience in treating various medical problems under supervision (e.g., internal medicine, surgery, general practice, obstetrics-gynecology, and pediatrics). Such programs are accredited for internship training in hospitals or other institutions by an appropriate accrediting body.
  • A residency program involves training in a specialized field of medicine in a hospital or an institution accredited for training in the specialty by an appropriate accrediting body.
• Experience: As required to meet clinical competency requirements specified in the Service-specific credentialing instructions. In addition to all other requirements, experience must include at least 32 hours of patient treatment within the specialty in the last 24 months.
• Board Certified : must be Board Certified or eligible to test for Board Certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
• Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice medicine.

Facilty Information: Services will be performed at Wilford Hall, Lackland AFB, San Antonio, TX.

Patient Population: Wilford Hall provides services to active duty Military, Retirees, Reserves, and their covered dependents.

Services are predominantly out-patient.

Job Summary:

• Perform a full range of physician services by privileges granted by the MTF.
• Direct, perform or assist in the instruction of other health care professionals within the scope of the clinical privileges or responsibilities.
• Examine, diagnose, treat or prescribe courses of treatment within the scope of training, experience, and privileges.
• Provide preventive and health maintenance care, including annual physicals, positive health behaviors, and self-care skills through education and counseling.
• Order diagnostic tests as applicable and request consultation or referral with appropriate physicians, clinics, or other health resources as indicated.
• Technically proficient in directing and teaching other medical staff, providing
  educational lectures, and providing in-service training to clinic staff members. Such direction and interaction will adhere to Government and professional clinical standards and accepted clinical protocols.
• The CP shall provide internal medicine care for adult patients, ages eighteen (18) and older, with acute and chronic patient conditions.
• The CP may serve as a primary care manager for an empanelment to not exceed 825, requiring a minimum of 50 bookable face-to-face and 15 telemedicine appointments per week or, in the absence of telemedicine, 63 bookable face-to-face appointments per week. Appropriate degradations to both empanelment and bookable appointment standards will take into consideration GME requirements.
• The CP shall have sufficient experience to adequately diagnose and treat diseases and injuries to include, but not limited to the following: Cardiovascular diseases, Respiratory diseases, Gastrointestinal diseases, Endocrinological diseases, Rheumatological diseases, Renal diseases, Infectious Diseases, and Neurological disorders.
• The CP shall manage patient care to include approving/disapproving subspecialty referrals, answering patient telephone consults with the assistance of clinic staff, refilling prescriptions, providing primary and secondary preventative maintenance care, providing post-discharge patient care, and addressing any additional acute/urgent patient care as the need arises.
• The CP shall provide immediate evaluation and management of emergency problems as they occur.
• The CP must have sufficient experience to be able to adequately perform the following medical procedures if working on an inpatient service, to include, but not limited to:
  � Electrocardiogram (ECG) interpretation
  � Flexible sigmoidoscopy
  � Graded exercise treadmill testing
  � Central line placement
  � Arterial line placement
  � Intubation and airway management
  � Hemodynamic invasive monitoring
  � Lumbar puncture
  � Paracentesis
  � Thoracentesis
  � CPR
  � The CP shall take part in clinic Quality Assurance Program as required to meet the standards of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.
