Human Resources Manager

Location: Brooklyn, NY
Salary: $95,000-$105,000 + Benefits
Schedule: Full-Time | Direct Hire

We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to join a mission-driven nonprofit organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in employee relations, HR compliance, performance management, and HR operations.

Key Responsibilities

Manage employee relations, conflict resolution, and workplace investigations.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
Advise management on HR policies, disciplinary actions, and corrective measures.
Coordinate employee performance reviews, coaching, and development plans.
Oversee employee records, I-9 compliance, background checks, and HRIS systems.
Manage voluntary and involuntary employee separations.
Support employee engagement, retention, and workplace culture initiatives.
Partner with leadership on workforce planning and organizational development.
Prepare HR reports and analytics for leadership.

Job Requirements

Minimum 5 years of progressive Human Resources experience.
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
Nonprofit, social services, or community-based organization experience strongly preferred.
In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and HR best practices.
Proven experience handling employee relations, workplace investigations, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions.
Strong understanding of HR policy development, implementation, and compliance.
Experience with performance appraisals, employee coaching, and professional development.
Ability to advise leadership and management on complex HR matters.
Experience maintaining personnel records and ensuring HRIS data accuracy.
Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Master's degree or PHR/SPHR certification preferred.
