About the Position

Job Title: RN - Neonatal ICU Profession: RN Specialty: Neonatal ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: 2 years of strong Level 3 and/or Level 4 NICU experience. Must be comfortable in a high acuity, fast-paced environment. License: RN Certifications: BLS, NRP Must-Have: - EPIC experience - Experience with EVDs, Camino device (ICP and temp monitoring device) - Management of critical care vasoactive drip titration - Management of invasive lines ART lines/CVP - Proficiency in aseptic and sterile techniques - Basic dressing changes - Ventilator and trach management - HOFV management - Oral/nasal suctioning - G-tube/J-tube management - Feeding tubes - Chest tubes - Epidurals - PCAs - Sedation and analgesic drip management - Foley insertion and management - Alaris and Medfusion pump management - Bedside procedures with providers - Discharge skills - CRRT experience - Baby side of ECMO Description: The RN will be working in a Neonatal ICU. The facility has 247 licensed beds. It is a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center teaching hospital. It is also a Certified Stroke Center and Chest Pain Center. The unit has 53 beds plus overflow, with an average patient census of 58. Patient types and common diagnoses include respiratory distress syndrome, transient tachypnea of the newborn, meconium aspiration, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, congenital heart defects, persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn, seizures, intraventricular hemorrhage, hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, necrotizing enterocolitis, feeding intolerance, acute/chronic renal failure, birth trauma, congenital anomalies, sepsis, neonatal abstinence syndrome, and TORCH infections. Patient ratios vary on acuity from 1:1 to 1:3. Support within the department includes: - Unit secretary every shift - Charge nurse available 24/7 - IV/VAT/PCVC team available 24/7 - Resource nurse available 24/7 - Intensivist available 24/7 - In-house residents and APP - Centralized and bedside telemonitoring - Unit-based educators Technology and equipment include: - EMR: EPIC - IV pump: Alaris and Medfusion syringe pumps - Med Dispensing: Omnicell - Monitors: Philips - Equipment: PIV ultrasound and Tecotherm - Breast milk scanning: MOMs Travelers will work weekend rotations which include 2 Fridays and 2 Mondays, plus every other weekend. Holiday expectations include working holidays as scheduled. The unit prefers travelers not to have a significant amount of RTO needs. Shift times are from 0645 to 1915 and 1845 to 0715. The dress code is navy scrubs with specific guidelines to follow. The unit culture emphasizes teamwork, trust, accountability, respect, compassion, hard work, open-mindedness, and flexibility.
