Job Description This position is responsible for coordinating drug purchases for hospitals and associated departments within the health system. The role involves establishing and maintaining inventory best‑practice procedures, ensuring appropriate inventory levels, preparing for physical inventory, and ensuring compliance with state, local, and federal regulations. You will serve as a liaison between system‑centralized buyers and local hospital teams to address inventory‑management concerns. Education High school diploma or equivalent (required) Completion of a professional pharmacy training program Associate or Bachelors’ Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred) Work Experience 2 years of pharmacy or retail‑related experience (required) Certifications Pharmacy Tech Certification in the state of practice (required) Pharmacy Wholesaler Buyer University completed within 6 months of hire Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally. Strong interpersonal skills. Organizational skills. Computer skills for data entry, retrieval, and reporting. Ability to coordinate diverse information into management data and reports. Strong problem‑solving and math skills. Positive attitude, energetic and flexible. Familiarity with inventory software. Effective leadership and teaching skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Job Duties Work with system‑centralized buyers and pharmacy leadership to maintain appropriate inventory levels and capture local financial opportunities. Communicate with these stakeholders to ensure local opportunities are captured. Execute, monitor, and train on inventory best‑practice procedures and standard operating procedures for the entire pharmacy department, ensuring compliance with state laws and DSCSA. Help prepare for annual physical inventory and support inventory day activities, including pharmacy stockroom and medication inventory. Support inventory management activities such as receiving, cycle counts, wholesaler order errors, and facilitating returns. Manage product expiration processes, stock products by expiration priority, and organize all invoices, receipts, and return authorizations. Handle pharmacy recalls following Hazardous Pharmaceutical Waste Disposal policy, vendor returns, non‑controlled, and damaged salvage returns. Review programs and proper use of reports and system applications to ensure accurate on‑hand inventory and pricing. Work with centralized buyers to ensure accuracy with 340B split billing software, wholesaler, and inventory management system. Attend trainings for continuous development and complete all e‑learning modules, including inventory software updates. Perform other related duties as assigned. Physical and Environmental Demands The role requires medium work strength for occasional to frequent force lifting (current guidelines detailed). It involves exposure to blood, body fluids, and potentially communicable diseases; it may also involve hazardous medication handling and waste disposal.
