RN Emergency Department

Job Summary:

The Level 3 Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department (ED) provides skilled nursing care to a diverse and high-volume patient population in a fast-paced, state-of-the-art Level I trauma center. The nurse is responsible for emergency care, telemetry monitoring, and assisting with boarder patients, ensuring quality treatment within a busy adult ED environment. Strong clinical skills, including advanced cardiac life support and emergency nursing experience, are essential. The role requires effective communication, collaboration, and the ability to work rotating shifts including days, evenings, and nights. Responsibilities:

  • Provide emergency nursing care to adult patients in a Level I trauma center.
  • Perform telemetry monitoring and interpret cardiac rhythms.
  • Assist with boarder patients as needed within the ED.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to deliver comprehensive patient care.
  • Respond to emergency situations promptly and effectively.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation according to hospital policies.
  • Participate in on-call, callback, floating, weekend, and holiday coverage as required.
  • Adhere to hospital protocols and safety standards in a fast-paced environment.
Required Skills & Certifications:
  • Active Registered Nurse license in New York State.
  • Minimum of two years of Emergency Department nursing experience.
  • Telemetry experience with ability to monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms.
  • Previous travel ER experience.
  • American Heart Association BLS certification.
  • American Heart Association ACLS certification.
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
  • Experience working in a high-volume, Level I trauma center ED.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical record systems such as EPIC.
  • Additional certifications related to emergency nursing or trauma care.
Special Considerations:
  • Work in a fast-paced, high-acuity adult Emergency Department.
  • Rotating shifts including day, evening, and night shifts.
  • Floating to other units, weekend, holiday, on-call, and callback responsibilities as needed.
  • ER environment does not support first-time travelers.
Scheduling:
  • 36 to 48 hours per week on a rotating day, evening, and night shift schedule.
  • Shift assignments based on unit needs, including floating and coverage for weekends and holidays.
