Description: Candidates must possess critical care skills. The unit accepts first-time travelers. Candidates will undergo a clinical review to determine fit. If the clinical review is successful, the candidate will be sent for final decision. Candidates are expected to work major holidays if they fall during the assignment. If one major holiday occurs, the traveler is expected to work it. If two major holidays fall during the assignment, the traveler is expected to work both. If three major holidays fall during the assignment, the traveler is expected to work two. Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day. Full compliance is required to start on time. If not compliant in time, there may be a delay of two weeks. Local candidates are accepted at the same rate. Candidates must have experience with adult critical care and various respiratory procedures. Knowledge of charting systems is required. Preferred experience includes trauma level II. Skills needed include interpretation of arterial blood gases and weaning from mechanical ventilation. All time must be documented accurately in the profile.
