Railroad Bridge EngineerCordoba Corporation is a leading engineering and design firm based in California. We are seeking a Railroad Bridge Engineer to join our Transportation Sector. The Railroad Bridge Engineer provides engineering oversight, technical review, and construction support for railroad bridge and guideway structures associated with the transportation client's project. The Engineer is responsible for reviewing bridge design documents, evaluating contractor submittals, resolving field engineering issues, and ensuring construction activities comply with project specifications, applicable design standards, and regulatory requirements. This position serves as the technical liaison between design consultants, construction management, contractors, and project stakeholders to support the successful delivery of complex railroad bridge infrastructure.ResponsibilitiesProvide engineering support for the construction, inspection, and acceptance of railroad bridges, guideways, retaining structures, culverts, and related structural componentsReview bridge design plans, calculations, shop drawings, working drawings, Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, and construction work plans for technical accuracy and compliance with contract requirementsEvaluate contractor proposals, design modifications, value engineering proposals, and field design changes while ensuring compliance with project specifications and applicable engineering standardsCoordinate with Resident Engineers, Construction Managers, Design Engineers of Record, specialty consultants, and contractors to resolve structural engineering issues encountered during constructionReview structural concrete placement plans, reinforcing steel details, post-tensioning operations, structural steel fabrication and erection procedures, bearings, expansion joints, falsework, shoring, and temporary worksPerform engineering analyses and technical evaluations to support field decisions involving bridge construction sequencing, structural integrity, constructability, and design deviationsVerify that bridge construction activities comply with approved plans, specifications, quality assurance requirements, and applicable railroad and transportation design standardsSupport construction claims evaluations by providing technical documentation, engineering analyses, and review of contractor change requestsParticipate in design review meetings, constructability reviews, risk assessments, value engineering workshops, and interdisciplinary coordination meetingsReview inspection reports, material testing results, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and corrective action plans to ensure timely resolution of quality issuesAssist in preparing technical memoranda, engineering reports, field recommendations, and final acceptance documentationPerform other bridge engineering duties as assigned in support of the the client's construction programSupports the compliance with the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CalFire), environmental regulations, and Authority safety requirementsQualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural EngineeringMinimum of five (5) years of relevant bridge design, bridge construction engineering, or structural engineering experience; or in lieu of a degree, nine (9) years of progressively responsible bridge engineering or structural engineering experienceKnowledge of reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, structural steel, foundation systems, seismic design principles, and railroad bridge construction methods.Experience interpreting engineering plans, structural calculations, contract specifications, and construction documentsStrong analytical, technical writing, and problem-solving skillsProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and engineering software used for structural analysis and designAbility to communicate effectively with multidisciplinary engineering and construction teamsSalary Range: $140,000 to $220,000/yearlyLocation: Sacramento, CAWork Environment: OnsiteOur CompanyCordoba Corporation, Making a DifferenceCordoba Corporation is a nationally recognized civil engineering, construction management, program management, and planning firm.
