Principal Reliability Engineer

Medtronic seeks a Principal Reliability Engineer to join the surgical operating unit's new product development quality team. The role focuses on developing reliability strategies, conducting testing, and ensuring medical devices meet regulatory and performance requirements throughout their lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Participate in cross-functional development teams providing mechanical and electrical reliability expertise
- Write reliability plans and conduct HALT, ALT, and other discovery testing during product development
- Support test method validation, verification activities, and development of test protocols and reports
- Perform reliability predictions, modeling, and data analysis to assess product reliability and risk
- Ensure compliance with FDA requirements and relevant ISO/IEC standards throughout product lifecycle
Requirements
- Bachelor's in Mechanical, Electrical, or Reliability Engineering with 7+ years experience, or Master's degree with 5+ years
- Strong background in reliability science and medical device product development
- Knowledge of design controls and FDA/regulatory compliance requirements
- Experience with HALT, ALT, and other reliability testing methodologies
- Proficiency in quality management systems, risk management, and statistical analysis
- ASQ Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) or equivalent certification preferred
- Medical device, automotive, or aerospace industry experience preferred
