Medical Billing & Collections Specialist
Pay: $23.00/hour
Location: Glendale, AZ ( Hybrid )
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (No on-call / no weekends)
Type: Contract-to-hire (40 hours/week)

Position Summary
We’re seeking a Medical Billing & Collections Specialist with healthcare AR experience to support billing, payment posting, and collections. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, persistent with follow-up, and comfortable researching and resolving payment discrepancies.
Hybrid Work Schedule (Phoenix, AZ)
- First 2 weeks: On-site for training
- After training: 2 days onsite / 3 days remote (WFH) each week (employee can select WFH days)
Key Responsibilities
- Generate invoices, apply payments, and manage past-due accounts
- Monitor AR aging reports; prioritize collections and identify denial/trend issues
- Research and resolve unapplied/misapplied payments and billing discrepancies
- Investigate short-pays, disputes, and claim-related issues; document actions thoroughly
- Respond to inquiries via phone, email, and chat in a professional manner
- Collaborate with internal teams to resolve complex account issues
Required Qualifications
- Medical billing and collections experience (healthcare AR)
- Strong understanding of AR processes and accounting fundamentals
- Reconciliation and research skills (invoice vs. payment discrepancies)
- Proficiency with Teams, Outlook, and Excel
Preferred / Plus
- Home Health billing experience
- Familiarity with Waystar, Instamed, Availity, WellSky, or similar billing/EHR systems
- Excel (PivotTables, VLOOKUP)
