The Diesel Mechanic located at The Villages, FL will maintain, diagnose, and repair hydraulic, electrical, and powertrain systems on heavy-duty waste vehicles to ensure DOT compliance and operational safety. Key Responsibilities

• Preventative Maintenance (PM): Conducting routine maintenance, including oil changes, fluid checks, lubrication of moving parts, tire rotations, and brake adjustments.
• Diagnostics and Troubleshooting: Using computer diagnostic software and electronic diagnostic systems to interpret failure codes and identify issues in diesel engines and related systems.
• System Repairs: Repairing and rebuilding faulty parts, including hydraulic systems, electrical systems, brake systems, transmissions, steering, suspension, and engines.
• Specialized Equipment Maintenance: Maintaining, repairing, and adjusting hydraulic and pneumatic components, such as cylinders, hoses, pumps, and motors, particularly on packer bodies.
• Road Calls and Emergency Repairs: Responding to roadside emergency calls for on-the-road breakdowns to diagnose and, if possible, repair equipment on-site.
• Safety Inspections: Reviewing and completing repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs) and conducting safety checks on all heavy equipment.
• Documentation: Complete reports, work orders, order parts and perform other administrative duties as required daily. Keep a detailed recording of work performed, parts used, and labor hours.
• Compliance: Ensuring all vehicles meet Department of Transportation (DOT) and OSHA safety standards.
• Purchasing: Order and replace parts as necessary, ensuring inventory is properly managed.

Here's what you'll need

• Minimum 3 years of experience in heavy-duty truck maintenance
• CDL Class B
• Must have a clean driving record. Pass background and drug screening

Ideally, here's what you will also have:

• ASE Medium/Heavy Truck Certifications (T-Series) preferred
• Extensive knowledge of hydraulic cylinders, pumps, and hoses.
• Proficiency with diesel engine diagnostic software and troubleshooting electrical systems.
• Knowledge of DOT (Department of Transportation) and OSHA regulations is essential.
• Experience in performing scheduled services, including oil changes, brake inspections, and suspension repairs.
• Ability to lift heavy objects (often 50+ lbs), bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods.

Posted Salary Range: Minimum $58,240.00 to Upper $66,560.00
