Mt. Hood Community College is hiring a full-time Public Safety Officer at its Gresham campus. Hood Community College Position: Public Safety Officer Location: Gresham Campus, Oregon Employment: Full-time Union: Yes - MHCC Classified Bargaining Unit Salary: $65,052-$90,050 annually Shift differential: 5% evening / 10% overnight where applicable under the collective bargaining agreement Job Number: 2026-00009 Department: Facilities, Risk Management, and Public Safety Initial schedule after training: Thursday-Monday, 3:00 PM-11:00 PM What You'll Do Conduct foot and vehicle patrols of college property. Respond to disturbances, crimes, fires, medical emergencies, alarms, and potentially dangerous situations. Conduct preliminary investigations and interview witnesses and victims. Perform building and grounds security checks and provide authorized facility access. Serve as an initial on-scene incident commander during emergencies. Prepare incident, crime, medical, and other reports. Support access control, security-camera systems, emergency drills, and public-safety operations. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED. One year of qualifying experience in campus public safety, military police, corrections, law enforcement, police reserves, or a DPSST-certified armed/unarmed security position. Current driver license and insurance, plus ability to meet the college's vehicle-insurance requirements. Intermediate computer skills including word processing, email, and spreadsheets. Certifications The selected candidate must be able to obtain DPSST Unarmed Professional certification, CPR, First Aid, and AED certification within 90 days of hire. The applicable collective bargaining agreement provides for shift differentials of 5% for qualifying evening work and 10% for qualifying overnight work. Mt.
