Job Requirements

• MD or DO with at least 1 year of general surgery experience required
• Experience providing adult general surgery care required
• General surgery skills with the ability to manage a broad adult surgical caseload
• ACLS, ATLS, and BLS required
• GI endoscopy experience required, including upper and lower procedures
• Appendectomy and cholecystectomy experience required
• Laparoscopic surgery experience preferred
• Trauma surgery experience preferred
• Strong clinical judgment and comfort with locum tenens call coverage expectations

Responsibilities

• Provide general surgery call coverage and respond to call backs within the expected timeframe
• Evaluate, diagnose, and manage adult surgical patients in a busy critical access hospital setting
• Perform general surgery procedures, including appendectomy and cholecystectomy
• Complete upper and lower GI endoscopy procedures as needed
• Collaborate closely with anesthesia, nursing, imaging, and laboratory teams to support patient care
• Support urgent surgical needs and provide timely clinical decision-making
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while helping maintain continuity of services
