Academic Program Specialist I

The College of the Arts Dean's Office seeks an Undergraduate Student Recruitment and Student Lifecycle Specialist to support college-wide undergraduate student recruitment, student engagement, and student experience initiatives. Reporting to the Associate Dean for Academic & Student Affairs, this position serves as a member of the College's advising and recruitment team and plays a key role in the planning, coordination, and implementation of undergraduate recruitment activities, student-facing events, communications, and initiatives that support the undergraduate student experience across the College of the Arts. This position also supports initiatives related to the undergraduate student lifecycle experience, including assessing student engagement and success trends, coordinating student experience initiatives, supporting alumni engagement efforts, and strengthening connections between current students, alumni, academic programs, and campus resources. Responsibilities include event coordination, research and data reporting, student outreach and communications support, focus group coordination, and collaboration with faculty, staff, alumni, and campus partners to enhance the overall student experience within the College of the Arts.

Responsibilities

• Undergraduate Student Recruitment (45%)
• Research best practices and most appropriate audiences for student recruitment appropriate to a College of the Arts and aligning practices with central admissions.
• Devise and implement methods for collecting relevant data and gathering feedback on recruitment materials and practices.
• Serve as a member of the College's Advising and Recruitment Team. Work with this team to shape the development and implementation of an annual schedule of recruitment activities, including, but not limited to coordinating the distribution of materials for undergraduate and graduate programs and electronic advertising.
• Schedule representation and/or represent the college at appropriate events, such as: Santa Fe Gator Days or other campus events. Present at Preview and Florida Days for incoming and prospective students. Schedule, coordinate and assist with campus visits and recruitment events. Presentations and level of travel may vary from year to year.
• Monitor undergraduate applicant to admit and yield rates in the schools and other related data. Provide reports on that data and on recruitment efforts. Plan yield events/efforts as appropriate.
• Assist in developing and maintaining undergraduate student recruitment materials, both print and online.
• Assist prospective or current students (and parents) who stop by the dean's suite, call, or reach out over email.
• Assist with managing key college-wide student events, most critically the College of the Arts spring Recognition Ceremony
• Student Lifecyle Experience (35%)
• Gather data and make recommendations regarding the overall trajectory of the undergraduate student experience in the College of the Arts, including:
• Develop and implement tools to gather information related to the undergraduate student experience
• Gather and disseminate knowledge related to campus resources that might enhance student success and enjoyment of their undergraduate experience (e.g. healthcare, academic support, student activities, etc.)
• Identify potential gaps in resource availability or access and make recommendations for closing those gaps
• Recommend other initiatives and approaches to enhance the student experience lifecycle and work with the Associate Dean of Academic and Student Affairs to implement those initiatives
• Pursue other strategies for improving student experiential outcomes across the College of the Arts
• Alumni Engagement and Support (20%)
• Liaise with the College's Advancement team to assist in the development, coordination and support of:
• Web-based platform to collect names of alumni interested in connecting with current students or serving as mentors
• Alumni-student mentorship program
• Engaging alumni in recruitment and yield activities
• Working with alumni to determine how the college can support them, particularly around professional development, including creation and management of focus groups or boards as deemed appropriate
• A database for tracking (with unit faculty and staff) and reporting (with Strategic Communications) on alumni successes
• Surveying alumni, including conducting alumni focus groups, etc.

Expected Salary: $52000-$54000 with a comprehensive and highly competitive leave and benefits package

Required qualifications - Bachelor's degree and two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred: Experience in an office environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, particularly Excel and Outlook. Demonstrated capacity for effective engagement in recruitment. Presentation experience. Familiarity with collecting, analyzing, and presenting data for decision-making purposes. Evidence of success in developing and implementing initiatives related to student experience lifecycle.
