Houston Physicians Hospital is currently seeking to hire a PRN Occupational Therapist! The Occupational Therapist functions as an interdisciplinary team member. The role is to work with a client to help them achieve a fulfilled and satisfied state in life through purposeful activity or interventions designed to achieve functional outcomes which promote health, prevent injury or disability, and develop, improve, sustain or restore the highest possible level of independence. Duties include preparing the patient and the treatment area, working as a team member within the entire facility, and performing other duties as assigned. Responsibilities: Occupational therapist promotes optimum independence in daily living. Provides goal‑directed, activity‑oriented treatment to promote optimum independence in functional mobility and daily life tasks. Ensures continuation of performance through effective education of the patient, family, or support system. Provides adaptive methods and equipment as appropriate to enhance performance. Communicates effectively with physicians, staff, patients, and families. Protects confidentiality in all areas as applicable. Applies knowledge of legal and ethical considerations in physical therapy practice. Keeps accurate records and writes meaningful reports. Executes therapeutic procedures and manipulates special equipment accurately and safely. Has full access to protected health information of patients on caseload. Organizes and prioritizes tasks and projects. Accurately completes job responsibilities within specified time constraints to meet the needs of patients, regulatory standards and customer satisfaction. Understands pool competency in adjusting, reading, and corrective measures for adjusting pool chemicals (site specific, where pool available). Helps people of all ages improve their ability to perform tasks in daily living and working environments. Improves motor functions and compensates for permanent loss of function. Uses physical exercises to increase strength and dexterity, and selects activities to improve visual acuity and pattern discernment. Evaluates need for, facilitates, or adjusts splints, orthotics, and surgical casting as needed. Qualifications: Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate Degree as an Occupational Therapist. Current licensed or licensure eligible as a registered Occupational Therapist in the State of Texas. AHA BLS‑HCP required within 30 days of hire. #LI-DS1 #J-18808-Ljbffr
